Weight calculation formula:
Weight calculation for MS Plate:
Weight (Kg) = Length (mm) x Width (mm) x
Thickness (mm) x 0.00000785 Kg/mm3
(Note: Density of Mild Steel= 7850 Kg/m3 = 0.00000785
Kg/mm3)
Example: MS
Plate Length=2000mm, Width=1500mm & Thickness= 10mm
Weight (Kg)
= 2000 x 1500 x 10 x 0.00000785 = 235.5 kg
Weight calculation Example |
Weight calculation from AutoCAD:
- Draft part drawing.
- Draw Boundary or Region for drafted profile.
- Go to enquiry tool and click on
Area, right click and select object.
- Result will show Total area of profile, copy this area from AutoCAD to calculate weight.
- Weight (Kg) = Area (mm2) x Thickness (mm) x 0.00000785 Kg/mm3
- Example: Area from AutoCAD= 3000000 mm2 & Thickness= 10mm, Weight (Kg) = 3000000x 10 x 0.00000785 = 235.5 kg
- Refer the below steps in AutoCAD to calculate area.
Steps in AutoCAD to calculate Area |
Area calculation from AutoCAD for complex profile:
1. Draft part drawing.
2. Draw Boundary or Region for drafted Profile. Refer the below steps
AutoCAD Boundary Creation Steps |
4. Again right click and select Subtract, again right click and select object, Select Inner profile object (hole and slot in this example) in Subtract mode. In Example: Total Area of The Part = 303384.3040
5. Result will show Total area of profile after subtracting the hole and slot area, copy this area from AutoCAD to
calculate weight.
6. Weight (Kg) = Area (mm2) x Thickness (mm) x 0.00000785 Kg/mm3,
7. Example: Area from AutoCAD= 303384.3040
mm2 & Thickness= 10mm.
Weight (Kg) = 303384.3040x 10 x 0.00000785 = 23.815 kg
